Prior to September 2022, Google provided the option for advertisers to create Smart Shopping campaigns. After this date, however, all Smart Shopping campaigns were upgraded to Performance Max campaigns.
Now, when you create a new campaign in Merchant Center, the campaign will use Performance Max by default. Performance Max campaigns help you reach more shoppers across all Google Ads channels, including YouTube, Search, and Discover.
