Why are keywords not being generated and what can I do about it?

The vast majority of our customers complete the setup in about 10 minutes, however, there are some cases when setup is taking a long time. If you tried using Cobiro but we could not generate keywords for your website, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot by yourself. Here is a list of things to check for:

1. Protocol mismatch or faulty SSL implementation

We support both http and https websites. What we don’t support is when there are mismatches between these two, and thus we fail to open your website correctly. In order to check your website, use this service:

2. Blocking our servers

Sometimes, hosting providers offer you ways to secure your website by blocking traffic from cloud providers, like Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud. We use Amazon Web Services. Before attempting to generate keywords, check if your hosting provider has any firewall or is blocking traffic from AWS.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to check if AWS is blocked by your provider.

 3. Generic site issues

     3.1 Content that depends too heavily on javascript.

If your website depends too much on javascript to display content/text, we might have trouble getting keywords for it. You can easily test that by disabling javascript in your browser and looking at how your page displays.

Here is a Javascript Chrome extension that disables Javascript so you can see how much depends on javascript.

    3.2 Overall performance issues & slow servers

Sometimes, we choose a smaller server that works fine when you test it yourself, but once it starts getting concurrent traffic it starts slowing down and breaking.

Use this tool provided by Google to check the overall usability score of your website:

Having a high score on it does not guarantee that we will be able to generate keywords for you, as other issues can be preventing us from rendering your site properly. But this score is a good indication overall of how your website performs against other websites alongside with some suggestions on what to improve

    3.3 Too little content

Make sure your website has enough content that our crawlers can read and interpret. If there’s too little, we won’t be able to extract topics from your keywords and thus won’t be able to generate more keywords for it.

 These three examples should help you understand the many qualifications your website needs in order to complete your Cobiro setup. Please remember that the vast majority of our customers complete the setup in about 10 minutes, so if you are waiting for hours for keywords to load, then it means that you most likely are experiencing one of the three scenarios listed above.
